Flying is a popular way to get from Bangkok to Krabi and it is definitely the fastest and easiest option to take. Several airlines, including low-cost carriers such as AirAsia, Thai Lion Air, and VietJet Air offer multiple flights daily.

Flights from Bangkok to Krabi depart from Don Muang Airport, which you can reach via taxi, train, or public bus.The flight takes 55m and lands at Krabi International Airport (KBV). The airport is located 13 km away from Krabi Town and 28 km away from Ao Nang.
Upon arriving at the Krabi Airport, you need to take a ride going to Krabi Town for 30-60 minutes.

There are so many things to do in Krabi, making you feel that a few days will not be enough to fit them all into your itinerary. You can go beach-hopping, rock-climbing, and island-hopping. Krabi is also a strategic gateway to the nearby islands of Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta.

There is no direct train connecting Bangkok to Krabi. The nearest train station to Krabi is located in Surat Thani. The trains depart from Hua Lamphong Railway Station in Bangkok and arrive at Surat Thani Train Station, which is about 13.5 km east of Surat Thani town.
Upon reaching Surat Thani, you have to board a minivan or bus to go to Krabi.
Travelling via bus from Bangkok to Krabi takes about half a day. If this is your preferred option, we suggest taking a night bus in order to save time and catch up on some rest.
There are six popular bus companies operating on this route: Travel Plus, Montanatip Tour & Travel, Khao San Tara Tour, Trans Baan Ton, Raja Ferry and Nara Travel.
Both bus terminals are located about 10 km distance from Bangkok city centre. However, the Southern Bus terminal offers the advantage of being connected to Bangkok’s metro system. If you will ride a taxi, it will take around 20-30 minutes to reach the terminal.
Most travelers base themselves near the main beach for easy access to transport, restaurants, and activities.

Used the Songserm ferry from Koh Samui. Cheaper than Lomprayah but takes a bit longer. Still a perfectly fine crossing. The views approaching Koh Tao are stunning either way.

Train via Surat Thani was our pick. More scenic than Chumphon route and the Lomprayah catamaran from Tapee Pier is very comfortable. Book the special express train for the quickest ride.
The overnight bus with Montanatip was okay but not great. The bus was older and the seats didn't recline much. Ferry portion was fine though. If you're on a tight budget it works.
Took the sleeper train to Chumphon — magical! Woke up to palm trees and transferred to the Lomprayah catamaran. Whole journey felt like an adventure.
Lomprayah bus+ferry combo from Khao San Road was seamless. Departed at 6am, arrived Koh Tao by 3pm. Well organized.
Flew to Koh Samui and took Lomprayah catamaran. More expensive but saved a full day. Worth it if your holiday is short.
