If you’re travelling in a group or carrying bulky pieces of luggage, it’s best to take a taxi ride that takes 40m - 1h between the airport and Dalat city centre.
We recommend that you pre-book your ride via BookAway so that your driver will already be waiting for you at the airport. Also, you can expect a nice car with a trusted driver. Rates start from $12.
Alternatively, you can get a taxi upon arrival at the airport. Rates start from 250,000 VND. Make sure to agree on a price before boarding the taxi. Turning on the meter is not exactly a good idea because the ride usually becomes more expensive.
For reference, some of the most trusted taxi companies in Dalat include Mai Linh, Dalat Taxi, and Thang Loi.
There used to be an airport bus operating between Lien Khuong Airport and Dalat city centre. But the last time we checked (October 2023), the airport shuttle bus was no longer available. This used to be operated by Phuong Trang (Futa Bus) with a ticket price of 50,000 VND per passenger.
If you’re looking for a cheap transfer, there are local buses still plying this route. However, they don’t pick you up from the airport. One of our readers shared that the nearest bus stop from Dalat to DaLat is about 1 km away — in front of a coffee shop called La 1988.
There are two buses you can take to the city: the red Futa minivan or the green bus with a sign that says “Duc Trong Da Lat.” These buses are available only until 18:00 daily. So if you’re arriving at Dalat to DaLat in the evening, your only option is to get a private transfer.
A bus ticket costs about $20 to Dalat city centre. The local buses make several stops within the city. You can ask to be dropped off at a stop nearest to your hotel.
We’d like to reiterate that this involves walking for about 1 km — not exactly a good idea when you’re in a hurry for your flight and carrying/dragging heavy bags!

Used the Songserm ferry from Koh Samui. Cheaper than Lomprayah but takes a bit longer. Still a perfectly fine crossing. The views approaching Koh Tao are stunning either way.

Train via Surat Thani was our pick. More scenic than Chumphon route and the Lomprayah catamaran from Tapee Pier is very comfortable. Book the special express train for the quickest ride.
The overnight bus with Montanatip was okay but not great. The bus was older and the seats didn't recline much. Ferry portion was fine though. If you're on a tight budget it works.
Took the sleeper train to Chumphon — magical! Woke up to palm trees and transferred to the Lomprayah catamaran. Whole journey felt like an adventure.
Lomprayah bus+ferry combo from Khao San Road was seamless. Departed at 6am, arrived Koh Tao by 3pm. Well organized.
Flew to Koh Samui and took Lomprayah catamaran. More expensive but saved a full day. Worth it if your holiday is short.
