Kep to Battambang by Shared Minivan
A minivan ride from Kep to Battambang costs around 96,000 KHR ($24). The minivan journey takes about 8h 45m - 11h, depending on traffic.
There are two companies operating on this route: Vibol Express and Ekareach Express.
The minivan is the only way to travel this route by land in one booking, so you can sort everything at once and not worry about buying separate tickets along the way.
It’s a long journey, though, and space can be limited, so be prepared for a bit of discomfort. Thankfully, there are usually a few stops along the way to stretch your legs and grab something to eat.

There are no direct bus trips from Kep to Battambang. Champa Mekong used to offer three daytime trips on this route, but they are no longer running. The company also didn’t receive good reviews.
If you still want to travel by bus, you’ll need to split the journey into two parts. First, take a bus from Kep to Phnom Penh. From there, you’ll find several bus options to continue your trip to Battambang.
Total bus fares cost 75,000 KHR ($19), and the whole journey takes between 8h 10m - 12h.

There are plenty of buses from Phnom Penh to Battambang, but not all of them offer the same level of safety or comfort. It’s worth being a bit picky here, especially for a journey that can take a while.
Giant Ibis, Airbus, and Cambolink21 Express are among the more reliable options, with better reviews for both safety and comfort. Fares start from 32,000 KHR ($7.90).
You’ll find several departures throughout the day, so it’s easy to plan around your schedule.

Kep to Battambang by Flight
Neither Kep nor Battambang has an operating airport. The nearest airport to Kep is in Sihanoukville, while the closest working airport to Battambang is in Siem Reap. Total fares start from 542,000 KHR ($135), and the full journey takes around 7h 35m.
Technically, Battambang does have a small airport just 3 km from the centre, but it hasn’t been in use for years. Apart from a few locals using it for football, there’s nothing happening there.
Here’s how you can travel from Kep to Battambang by flight.
Step 1: Kep to Sihanoukville Airport by Shared Minivan
The easiest and most budget-friendly way to get from Kep to Sihanoukville International Airport is by shared minivan. You can book one online through BookAway for just 40,000 KHR ($10), and it takes you directly to the airport.
If you’re after more comfort or want to save time, a private taxi is a good option. Local drivers usually charge around 201,000 KHR ($50), but they might try to push the price higher. It's best to agree on the fare before you go.
For a more hassle-free experience, you can book a taxi online via 12Go.Asia, with fares from 265,000 KHR ($66).
Step 2: Sihanoukville to Siem Reap by Flight
Step 3: Siem Reap Airport to Battambang by Taxi
You can get a taxi from Siem Reap International Airport to Battambang for around 281,000 KHR ($70). These are regular sedans parked outside the terminal. Be sure to agree on the fare before you hop in.
If you’d rather have more space, booking online gets you an SUV for about 506,000 KHR ($125). It’s pricier, but you’ll have a more comfortable ride, especially if you’ve got lots of luggage or you're travelling in a group.

The city of Battambang is fairly spread out, however, you'll find the majority of accommodations are located centrally, near the Sangkae River.
The downtown area is less than 5km from the airport so taking public transportation or hopping in a taxi will be an easy & quick trip to your hotel. The bus terminal is located in the downtown area and will likely be within walking distance of your hotel, or just a short taxi ride away.
