Battambang to Phnom Penh by Bus
The bus is an affordable way to get from Battambang to Phnom Penh. Bus fares start from 32,000 KHR ($7.90), and the journey takes around 4h - 7h 30m.
You can choose from seven bus companies operating on this route.
Capitol offers a sleeper bus on this route, but the travel time is longer at 7 hours and 30 minutes. For this route to Phnom Penh from Battambang, a sleeper bus isn’t really necessary, unless you’re just curious to try it out.
For a quicker and more reliable option, we recommend travelling with Giant Ibis, Airbus, or Cambolink21 Express. These companies usually get better reviews and complete the journey in around 4.5 to 5 hours.

Battambang to Phnom Penh by Minivan
A minivan ride from Battambang to Phnom Penh costs around 40,000 KHR ($9.90). The minivan journey takes about 4h 30m, depending on traffic.
There are two companies operating on this route: Larryta Express and Cambolink21 Express.
Both companies are well-rated, so you can go with whichever one fits your schedule best.

Battambang to Phnom Penh by Train
The train is a cheap option when going from Battambang to Phnom Penh. Tickets cost around 41,000 KHR ($10), and the journey takes about 7h - 7h 30m. While it’s slower than other transport options, the scenic countryside views along the way make it a relaxing alternative.
Just keep in mind that train travel in Cambodia is slow and often delayed, so it doesn’t always stick to the schedule.
For the Battambang to Phnom Penh route, Royal Railway operates KiHa model trains usually only from Thursday to Sunday. These are refurbished Japanese trains and are noticeably more comfortable than the regular service, with better seating, stronger air conditioning, and improved onboard facilities.
On other days, older carriages operate instead. These are less comfortable and have fewer amenities.
The train also stops at Pursat Station for at least 15 minutes. Most passengers hop off to grab snacks from local vendors.
You can buy train tickets online through the official Royal Railway Cambodia website or at the station before your trip. Tickets are also available on 12Go.Asia and BookAway, but prices are slightly higher on these platforms.

Departure and Arrival Stations
The train leaves from Battambang Royal Railway Station, not far from the city centre. A tuk-tuk ride costs 8,000 KHR ($2.00).
You will arrive at Phnom Penh Railway Station in the city centre. Tuk-tuks will be waiting outside the station, but you can also book via Grab or PassApp.
Battambang to Phnom Penh by Taxi
A private transfer from Battambang to Phnom Penh is the easiest and most convenient option. The journey takes 5-6h, and you’ll be dropped off right at your accommodation — no need to worry about extra transfers.
Prices for private transfer start at 345,000 KHR ($86) for a 3-seater. Split it with your group, and it’s about 115,000 KHR ($29) each.

- BBK1 boasts a vibrant and lively atmosphere. It's close to the city centre, without being as hectic. There are plenty of nightclubs, bars, restaurants and hipsters cafes here.
- Riverside is, as the name suggests, along the river. You'll wake up to river views and be close to plenty of cafes, bars, restaurants and street food.
White Corner Hotel
As the name suggests, White Corner Hotel has a very white colour scheme both inside and out, giving it a clean and modern feel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, providing everything that you need.
If you stay here, you'll be located in the BBK1 neighbourhood, a very fun place to be staying. It's also within walking distance of the must-visit S-21 prison.
