Dalat to Hoi An by Bus

13h 30m - 17h 30mFrom 703,000 VND ($27)

To start, we don’t recommend taking a bus from Dalat to Hoi An. It will be an exhausting journey of around 13h 30m - 17h 30m.

Still want to take the bus? You have two options. Read on for a step-by-step guide.

Option 1: Direct Bus from Dalat to Hoi An

10h 30m - 14h703,000 VND ($27)

Option 2: Indirect Bus via Da Nang

If there are no direct buses available on your preferred schedule, you can take a bus from Dalat to Da Nang and then a taxi from Da Nang to Hoi An.

Step 1: Dalat to Da Nang by Bus

12h 30m - 16h 30m516,000 VND ($20)

From Dalat, it’s a 12h 30m - 16h 30m bus ride to Da Nang. That alone makes us want to push you to look the other way and just take a flight or the train.

But the bus has one strong advantage: it is the cheapest option with fares from 516,000 VND ($20). That’s half the price of the other choices.

Still, we have to reiterate that bus travel in Vietnam is neither as safe nor as comfortable as taking the train. The bus makes a few stops for food and toilet breaks. But it will be such a long trip that laying on your sleeper bunk for so many hours may become too exhausting.

We recommend taking a flight from Dalat to Hoi An when you’re short on time. This flight journey takes only around 3h, already including the transfers going to and from the airports.

1 hour40,000 VND ($1.50)

The nearest airport to Dalat is Lien Khuong Airport (also called Dalat Airport), 30 km away. You can get there via a 1 hour bus or taxi.

The bus is the cheaper option — a ticket only costs 40,000 VND ($1.50). It departs from Ngoc Phat Hotel near Xuan Huong Lake, generally 2 hours before every flight. But we recommend confirming this with the staff to make sure you arrive at the airport on time.

If you’re already in a hurry, it’s best to just take a taxi with rates from 290,000 VND ($11).

Visit our page on Dalat Airport for more details.

1 hour600,000 VND ($23)

You can pre-book your shuttle bus or taxi ride online through BookAway. For more info, check out our guide for Da Nang Airport.

IMPORTANT: There used to be cheap local buses operating from Da Nang to Hoi An. But the last time we checked (November 2024), these were no longer available. ABOUT YOUR DESTINATION

Why Visit Hoi An?

Hoi An is a charming city on Vietnam's central coast. Once a major port, the mixed influences of Japanese, Chinese, and European merchants are still visible here.

Its Old Town is a well-preserved fusion of foreign and indigenous architecture, laid out in a small-scale model of a 15th to 19th-century trading hub. No wonder it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site! Travelling to Hoi An feels like walking back in time.
