The easiest way to travel from Sorrento to Capri is by ferry. With the short distance between the two towns, travel time is only 15-30m, and tickets start at €21 ($25).

There are four main ferry operators on this route. Alilauro offers year-round trips, while NLG (Navigazione Libera Del Golfo) and SNAV operate only during the summer.

Departure and arrival stations

Ferries depart from the Port of Sorrento, located 500m north of Piazza Tasso, in the town centre.

You’ll arrive at the Capri Ferry Terminal, the island’s main port on the north coast, roughly 3 km from the town centre.

The towns of Capri and Anacapri are closed off to traffic for most of the year, but the rest of the island is not. Having a scooter can be useful when travelling between these two destinations and exploring the island’s many beaches.

Scooter rental agencies are available on the island, particularly at Marina Grande. All ferries dock here, so you can see them as soon as you arrive in Capri.
